Download and install the VPN Cognito app directly from our website — no Play Store required. You may need to allow installs from unknown sources in your Android settings under Settings → Security → Unknown Sources.
Open the app and sign in with your VPN Cognito account email and password. Alternatively, if you have an activation code from your account area, tap Use Activation Code to link your device instantly without typing credentials.
Select a server location from the list and tap Connect. Your device will prompt you to allow a VPN connection — tap OK. You're connected. The app remembers your last server.
On your Fire TV, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options and enable Apps from Unknown Sources and ADB Debugging.
Search for Downloader in the Amazon Appstore and install it. This free app lets you sideload APKs directly onto your Fire TV.
Open Downloader and enter the following URL to download the VPN Cognito app:
Open the installed app. On the login screen, select Use Activation Code. Go to your VPN Cognito account area, find your activation code, and enter it using your Fire TV remote. No need to type your full email/password.
Choose a server and press Connect. Your Fire TV is now protected. The app will remember your session.
Download and install the official OpenVPN client for Windows from openvpn.net/community-downloads. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.
Log in to your VPN Cognito account. Go to My Services → Manage → Download Config. Download the .ovpn file(s) for the server(s) you want to use.
Right-click the OpenVPN tray icon in the system taskbar and select Import file…. Navigate to your downloaded .ovpn file and import it.
Right-click the OpenVPN tray icon, hover over your server name, and click Connect. Enter your VPN Cognito username and password when prompted. You're connected.
Download Tunnelblick from tunnelblick.net — the free, open-source OpenVPN client for macOS. Open the downloaded .dmg and follow the installation wizard.
Log in to your VPN Cognito account and download the .ovpn config file for your chosen server from My Services → Manage → Download Config.
Double-click the .ovpn file — Tunnelblick will import it automatically. Click Connect in the Tunnelblick menu bar icon. Enter your VPN Cognito credentials when prompted.
Search for OpenVPN Connect in the App Store and install it. It's the official OpenVPN client for iOS, free to download.
On your iPhone, open Safari and go to vpncognito.com/clientarea.php. Log in and navigate to My Services → Manage → Download Config. Tap the config file to download it.
When prompted, tap Open in OpenVPN. The app will import the profile. Tap Add, then toggle the connection to ON. Allow the VPN configuration when prompted by iOS. Enter your credentials once — they'll be saved.
Install the OpenVPN package using your distribution's package manager:
Log in to your VPN Cognito account and download the .ovpn config from My Services → Manage → Download Config. Save it to a known location.
Run the following command, replacing the filename with your downloaded config:
